A self-taught artist, Kim Larson left her studies at the University of Southern California to do plein aire oil paintings in her native western New York. Kim's career has been in the graphic arts field specializing in the consumer goods and clothing design industry for the past 15 years. In 2006 she stumbled upon the Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland, tried her hand at it and was hooked. She is presently specializing in female nudes. www.kimlarsonart.com
Jon's passion for the arts were rekindled after retiring from his professional career in chemistry, beginning his second career as an artist, primarily painting in oils. His influences range from artists Mark Rothko and Nathan Oliveira, to the simple wear and erosion of the elements on the sides of weathered buildings or the painted tailgates of old pick-up trucks. Michelle White is an artist based in San Francisco, focusing her work on freelance illustration. She completed her BFA in Illustration at Ringling College of Art & Design. Her work with several newspapers as an editorial staff artist, and at CNET's news.com as a web designer have given her a wide range of skills in both print and web mediums. In addition to her illustrations, Michelle creates paintings on both canvas and wood, and continues to expand her skills in design and infographics. www.michelle-white.com
Karen LeGault, an Oakland resident, has been drawing and painting for over 39 years. She spent many years with personal exploration and experimentation in the arts with interests as varied as fabric design, photography, video and graphics. She began teaching drawing and painting classes in North and East Bay community centers in 1993, and taught at the Berkeley Botanical Garden from 1993 to 2002.… Having…studied, practiced and taught Tai Chi Chuan and other spiritual disciplines, she has a special interest in combining Eastern and Western concepts and techniques.. www.karenlegault.com
Melissa Hutton, an active member of the San Francisco art scene since 1992, moved west from her home in Fort Lauderdale, FL to complete her BFA degree in printmaking and film at the San Francisco Art Institute. She graduated in 1995, and spent more than 15 years in the graphic design indstry, working extensively as a freelance designer. Her work ranges from a series of Warholesque, hand-painted chairs for a popular S.F. cafe and gallery called Brainwash, to numerous commission works and exhibitions.
